Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Gate 0 Athletics provides services to youth athletes, including children under the age of 13. This section describes our specific obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 16 C.F.R. Part 312, and our practices for protecting children's personal information.
Parental Consent Required
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without first obtaining verifiable parental consent. If you wish to create a profile for a child under 13:
- A parent or legal guardian must initiate and manage the account. Children under 13 may not create their own accounts.
- Before we collect any personal information about a child under 13, we will send a direct notice to the parent or guardian describing what information we intend to collect, how it will be used, how it may be disclosed, and how to provide or withhold consent.
- We will obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting, using, or disclosing the child's personal information. Consent may be provided by a signed consent form returned by email, through our in-app consent workflow, or by other methods reasonably designed to verify parental identity.
- We will not collect, use, or disclose a child's personal information if parental consent is not provided within a reasonable time.
What We Collect from Children Under 13
With verifiable parental consent, we collect the following personal information from or about children under 13:
- Name (first and last)
- Date of birth
- Gender
- School or team affiliation (if provided)
- Athletic performance metrics (sprint times, jump heights, agility scores) collected at events
- Profile photograph (if voluntarily submitted by a parent or guardian)
We do not collect government-issued identification numbers, precise geolocation data, biometric identifiers as defined by COPPA, audio or video recordings of children through the Platform, or financial information directly from children. We do not condition a child's participation on disclosure of more information than is reasonably necessary.
How We Use Children's Personal Information
Personal information collected from or about children under 13 is used only for:
- Creating and maintaining the child's athlete profile on the Platform
- Recording and displaying performance data collected at Gate 0 events
- Enabling parents and authorized coaches to view the child's performance history and benchmarks
- Communicating with parents or guardians about account-related matters
- Complying with applicable law
We do not use children's personal information for targeted advertising, behavioral profiling, or any commercial purpose other than providing the Services for which consent was obtained.
Disclosure of Children's Personal Information
We do not sell or share children's personal information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. We may share it only:
- With service providers performing functions on our behalf (hosting, analytics, email delivery), subject to contractual restrictions
- With authorized coaches or team administrators granted access by the parent or guardian
- To comply with a legal obligation, court order, or valid governmental request
- To protect the safety of the child or prevent harm, with notice to the parent as required by law
Parental Rights
At any time, a parent or legal guardian may contact us at support@gate0.com (subject line: "COPPA Parental Request") to review, request a copy of, correct, or request deletion of their child's personal information, or to revoke consent. We will verify your identity before responding and will reply within 45 days.
